Northwestern Defeats Medical Lab Worker’s Employment Claims

Northwestern University Friday held onto its win against a medical lab worker who alleged claims for hostile work environment harassment and retaliation.

Diane Trahanas never told the school about allegedly harassing behavior by her supervisor, co-defendant Steven Schwulst, or her co-workers, even though the university offered several corrective and preventive measures, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said.

Trahanas also couldn’t succeed on claims that the school terminated her in retaliation for taking federally guaranteed leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act or for exercising her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the court said. ...
