A federal appellate court largely upheld a district court’s move to avoid weighing in yet on a 2024 election challenge over a seat on the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
The case, over protests brought by a GOP candidate after he lost his bid for a sitting Democratic justice’s seat, deals with unsettled issues of state law that could impact the way federal law is applied and should be resolved first, judges in the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit wrote Tuesday in an eleven-page unpublished opinion.
