A North Carolina insurance agent was accused of defrauding elderly investors through a real estate scheme between March 2016 and April 2021.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission filed the complaint in the US District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina on Tuesday. It accuses Marshall Melton and his company, Integrated Consulting & Management Inc., of perpetrating a $1 million scheme convincing people to invest in a real estate development project in Laurinburg, North Carolina while Melton kept most of the funds for himself.
