North Carolina College Democrats Drop Vanishing Poll Lawsuit

College Democratic groups at three North Carolina universities are dropping their challenge to elimination of on-campus polling places.

Instead of appealing a Feb. 8 loss when the US District Court Middle District of North Carolina found they didn’t have standing, the plaintiffs decided to dismiss their voter-access challenge.

The students had argued the North Carolina State Board of Elections’ and local election boards’ decisions to eliminate primary polling locations at Western Carolina University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and University of North Carolina at Greensboro violated the 26th Amendment’s guarantee of the right to vote for citizens ...
