Noblr Defeats Lawsuit Over Breach of Driver’s License Numbers

Auto-insurance provider Noblr Reciprocal Exchange defeated a proposed class action alleging it failed to protect the personal information of nearly 100,000 people that was exposed in a 2021 data breach.

A lower court properly dismissed the lawsuit after finding that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue in federal court because they failed to show they suffered an injury-in-fact from the breach, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said Wednesday.

The Ninth Circuit affirmed the lower court’s ruling and declined to remand the case for further amendment of the complaint.
