New Jersey appeals court judges tried to pin down exactly when malpractice claims are triggered in a Tuesday oral argument that could broaden lawsuits against lawyers.

A two-judge Superior Court Appellate Division panel pushed back against a business arguing the clock on the state’s six-year statute of limitations didn’t begin until a judgment was issued against it in 2022.
