A New Jersey judge suspended for not helping law enforcement capture her boyfriend faced an appeals panel wading into how judicial misconduct impacts state retirement benefits.

Former Superior Court Judge Carlia M. Brady has approval from Gov. Phil Murphy (D) to seek retirement benefits, as well as a New Jersey Supreme Court decision reversing her removal, but a state retirement agency has refused her hundreds of thousands of dollars due to her failure to help police enforce warrants against her former partner.
