NJ Governor Hopeful’s Ex-Aide Sues for Wrongful Termination (1)

A former aide to Jersey City, NJ Mayor Steven Fulop (D) sued his former boss Wednesday, alleging that the city government violated his rights after firing him for his support of his sister’s anti-LGBTQ+ campaign for office in Missouri.

Jonathan Gomez Noriega sued Fulop, a leading candidate in next year’s gubernatorial race, along with several other city officials, in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The complaint alleges that Gomez’s donations to his sister Valentina Gomez, who came in sixth in this August’s GOP primary for Missouri Secretary of State, were protected speech.
