NJ Court, Hospital Gun Bans Largely Upheld by Third Circuit (2)

New Jersey’s restrictions on firearms in “sensitive places” like schools, casinos, and government buildings were upheld by a divided Third Circuit Wednesday, aligning the court with other circuits that have rejected challenges to these gun laws.

“As we look through our history, a pattern emerges: our Nation has permitted restriction of firearms in discrete locations set aside for particular civic functions and where the presence of firearms was historically regulated as jeopardizing the peace or posing a physical danger to others,” Judge Cheryl Ann Krause wrote in her majority opinion joined by Judge Cindy Kyounga Chung.
