Ninth Circuit Approves $90 Million Facebook Tracking Settlement

Facebook’s $90 million settlement of a long-running lawsuit over its online tracking of users was fair and reasonable, a federal appellate court said.

The US District Court for the Northern District of California didn’t abuse its discretion in approving the settlement amount and in setting aside statutory damages of $1.24 trillion as an unreasonable baseline for the analyzing the deal, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said Wednesday.
