Nike’s $8.25 Million Bag-Check Settlement Nears Final Approval

Nike Retail Services Inc.'s proposed $8.25 million class action settlement to resolve claims over off-the-clock security screenings is up for final approval, according to a motion filed in the Northern District of California.

The settlement, which won preliminary approval in September 2021, would resolve claims for a class of 16,365 current and former non-exempt employees who worked retail for Nike between Feb. 25, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2019.

If approved, each class member would receive an average payment of $319.97 to compensate them for the time they spent undergoing bag checks at the end of their shifts. At least one ...
