Nike Store Employees Finalize $8.25 Million Bag-Check Settlement

A $8.25 million settlement between Nike and more than 16,300 store employees who sought pay for time spent undergoing security checks after their shifts received final approval from a federal judge in California.

The class members will split $5.16 million, with each expected to receive an average payment of nearly $320. Class counsel will get $2.75 million in attorneys’ fees plus $178,996 in costs.

The deal resolves nearly eight years of litigation, which included a trip to the Ninth Circuit in 2019.
