NFL Sunday Ticket Judge Skeptical of Jury’s $4.7 Billion Verdict

A Los Angeles federal judge was sympathetic to the National Football League’s argument that a jury’s $4.7 billion verdict in the Sunday Ticket case was irrational, saying jurors failed to follow instructions.

The June 27 verdict, which could be tripled to $14 billion under federal antitrust law, didn’t adhere to any of the damages models jurors could select for calculations, Judge Philip S. Gutierrez of the US District Court for the Central District of California said in a Wednesday post-trial hearing that lasted over two hours.
