Billions of dollars in damages awarded by a jury to NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers and then reversed by a judge were at stake during oral arguments Monday before a panel of Ninth Circuit judges.
The panel is considering an appeal of a Los Angeles district judge’s ruling that tossed out a jury verdict awarding $4.7 billion to Sunday Ticket subscribers, which could have tripled to $14 billion under federal antitrust law.
Judge Joan H. Lefkow, sitting by designation, said she had a “fundamental problem” with departing from the jury’s verdict.
