The conservative network Newsmax is refusing to pay more than $400,000 to a law firm that defended it from claims it defamed two voting technology companies in reports claiming they helped rig the 2020 presidential election against Donald Trump, according to a lawsuit.
Todd & Weld LLP said in the complaint, filed Thursday in Massachusetts Superior Court, that Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy expressed that the Boston-based firm should accept “a couple hundred thousand dollar haircut” because the network “lost” the lawsuits from Dominion and Smartmatic.
Newsmax owes $426,498.96 for its work on the Dominion case, according to the firm. ...
