News Outlet Loses Appeal Over Trump Transition Team Member Names

The General Services Administration properly redacted the names of low-level members of the outgoing Trump transition team in responding to Freedom of Information Act requests from Insider Inc, the DC Circuit said in affirming summary judgment for GSA.

Insider, an online news outlet, requested information relating to expenditures from Trump’s and Pence’s Presidential Transition Accounts at the GSA. As part of a three-hundred document response, the agency produced “two spreadsheets listing the estimated salary and benefits costs for twenty-eight members of the two transition teams” but with nine first and last names redacted.
