New York Federal Court Clerk Guilty of Steering Clients for Cash

A New York federal court clerk has been convicted of illegally sending criminal defendants to an attorney in exchange for money.

Dionisio Figueroa, who worked in the magistrate clerk’s office in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, was found guilty by a jury in the same court Monday on charges including bribery and making false statements. Sentencing is scheduled for April 8, 2024, according to the Southern District’s US attorney’s office.
