The city of New York will pay more than $13.7 million to current and former employees who alleged it failed to compensate them for overtime work.
The deal won approval on Monday from Judge Henry J. Ricardo of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, who dismissed the collective action with prejudice. The settlement amount will go to more than 2,000 current and former child protective specialists and supervisors who worked at the city’s Administration for Children’s Services agency between 2020 and 2024, according to the settlement agreement.
