Texas’s new law allowing for the state to arrest people who enter the country without legal authorization has drawn a lawsuit, just one day after it was signed into law.
Senate Bill 4, which Gov. Greg Abbott (R) celebrated at a ceremony Monday in the Rio Grande Valley, challenges the federal government’s exclusive enforcement of immigration laws, escalating a fight against President Joe Biden and blue state Democrats.
“The federal government has no role in, and no control over, Texas’ scheme,” the complaint says.
