New Gun Brace Accessory Rule Can Take Effect, Federal Judge Says

A new federal rule addressing when a gun qualifies as a rifle survived a preliminary court challenge ahead of its anticipated final implementation on Wednesday.

A Virginia gun seller moved for a nationwide temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the rule, which amends the statutory definition of rifle to include any weapon equipped with an attachment to provide surface area allowing it to be fired from the shoulder.
