Neville Selected as Illinois’ Next Supreme Court Chief Justice

The Illinois Supreme Court has chosen P. Scott Neville Jr. as its next chief justice, the court announced Tuesday. Neville will be the second Black judge selected to head the state’s high court.

Neville, who has sat on the Supreme Court since 2018, will begin a three-year term as chief next month. He will replace current Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis, who has led the court since 2022.
