Netflix Ex-VP Blasts Jury Instructions in Bid to Undo Conviction

Counsel for Netflix’s former vice president of IT operations tried to convince a Ninth Circuit panel Thursday that confusing jury instructions allowed him to be wrongly convicted for moonlighting as an adviser to startups.

Michael Kail was convicted of 19 counts of wire fraud, three counts of mail fraud, and seven counts of money laundering. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
