NetChoice Renews Challenge to Mississippi Age-Verification Law

NetChoice LLC renewed its First Amendment challenge to Mississippi’s online age-verification law and asked a federal court to permanently block the state from enforcing restrictions aimed at protecting minors from harmful content on the Internet.

Mississippi HB 126 would stifle protected speech based on a vague and content-based coverage definition, and is unconstitutional both on its face and as applied to NetChoice members, the online trade association said in an amended complaint and a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
