Nebraska AG Says GM is Illegally Profiting From OnStar Data (1)

Nebraska’s attorney general sued General Motors LLC and OnStar LLC in state court, accusing the companies of illegally selling drivers’ data to insurance companies without their consent.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday adds to the growing number of state AG’s who have gone after GM and its subsidiary OnStar for similar allegations.

The automaker ended its OnStar Smart Driver program in April 2024 after numerous customer complaints over alleged privacy violations. GM settled with the US Federal Trade Commission in January to resolve some of those data sharing allegations, banning it from collecting and sharing driver data for five years. ...
