Resideo Technologies Inc. is facing a lawsuit from Nebraska Attorney General Michael Hilgers (R) over its alleged failure to properly alert consumers that some of the cameras it sold from Chinese manufacturers were restricted in the US for national-security and cybersecurity risks.
The complaint, filed Monday in Nebraska state court against the smart home product retailer—which conducts its distribution business as ADI Global Distribution—says the US has placed Hangzhou Hikvision Digital and Zhejiang Dahua products under restrictions for various reasons, including their relationship with China’s military, alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang, and cybersecurity concerns.
