NBC Forces Asian-American Worker to Arbitrate Race Bias Claims

An Asian-American former NBCUniversal Media LLC technical associate must submit to an arbitrator her claims that, because of her race, she was denied at-home teleprompting equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic and then fired for not having it, the Southern District of New York ruled.

Amy Sinavsky is a member of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians, Communications Workers of America and her employment with NBCUniversal was governed by the union’s collective bargaining agreement with the company, the court said.
