Navy Vets With PTSD Settle Suit Over Discharge Upgrade Denials

Thousands of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veterans agreed to settle class claims that the Naval Discharge Review Board unfairly denied them discharge upgrades without fully considering the impact of their PTSD, TBI, and related mental health conditions.

If approved, the proposed deal would require the NDRB to automatically reconsider all unfavorable decisions issued on or after March 2, 2012, six years before the lawsuit was filed.

The settlement would also permit veterans whose applications were denied between Oct. 7, 2001, when the U.S. launched its attack on Afghanistan, and March 1, 2012, to reapply to the NDRB. Veterans whose ...
