Naval Academy Sued Over Affirmative Action Admissions Policy (1)

The constitutionality of the US Naval Academy’s affirmative action admissions policy is facing the same legal challenge as the US Military Academy at West Point.

The admissions policy at the Naval Academy should be based on merit, not race, the complaint filed by Students for Fair Admissions said.

The group sued West Point in September, saying that its admissions policy violates the Fifth Amendment. On Thursday, it sued the Naval Academy in the US District Court for the District of Maryland, making the same argument.
