National Guard Accused of Illegally Expanding Training Airspace

The US Air Force and National Guard Bureau were hit with a federal lawsuit from an environmental conservation group over a “proposed massive expansion of vertical and horizontal airspace for low-altitude training” in eastern Michigan without issuing an environmental impact statement.

Anglers of the Au Sable, whose members participate in fly fishing and other recreational activities around Michigan’s Au Sable River System, alleged in a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan that the lack of an EIS violates the National Environmental Policy Act.
