A US Muslim civil rights group is suing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for deeming it to be a terrorist organization created “to conceal ties to Islamic extremist groups.”
The Council on American-Islamic Relations alleges DeSantis, a Republican, lacks authority to make such a designation, and that his Dec. 8 executive order “violates foundational constitutional principles,” in its lawsuit filed Monday with the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
The lawsuit comes one month after CAIR sued Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on similar grounds.
