The New York City Bar Association on Tuesday night elected Muhammad U. Faridi, partner at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, as the association’s first Muslim American president.
Faridi will focus on three key priority areas over the next two years: eliminating the cap on the number of judges on the state Supreme Court and reevaluating the need for 11 separate trial courts in the state, diversifying the legal profession, and appealing to the next generation of lawyers, including by embracing discussions around artificial intelligence.
