Motorola Prevails Over Ex-Worker’s Age Discrimination Lawsuit

Motorola Solutions Inc. persuaded a federal court to toss an ex-worker’s age discrimination suit, but the court said the former employee could try again on some claims.

Ex-Motorola project manager Dorothy McCarthy failed to show she’d suffered an adverse employment action—such as a salary cut or title change—to prevail on her federal workplace age bias claim, Judge Ramon E. Reyes Jr. said Wednesday in an opinion for the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Reyes dismissed McCarthy’s Age Discrimination in Employment Act claims but said she could refile her New York City Human Rights Law claims. ...
