More Immigrant Groups Sue to End IRS-DHS Tax Info Sharing

Immigrant support groups say the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration are disregarding federal privacy laws by using protected tax filings to locate and deport individuals, in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

Nonprofits who have long told members their tax filings would be kept confidential under the Tax Reform Act of 1976 regardless of their immigration status said the Trump administration is ignoring the law to populate addresses into a database used for deportations.
