Models Can Proceed as Class in NY Labor Row With Wilhelmina

Fashion models who claim they were misclassified as independent contractors by Wilhelmina Models and Next Management can proceed as a class with their claims, a Manhattan appellate court ruled Tuesday.

The court rejected Wilhelmina and Next’s argument that the models abandoned their motion for class certification when they waited nearly five years to submit their proposed certification order in their case claiming the companies violated New York Labor Law when they failed to classify the models as employees.
