Mobis Parts Sued for Firing Woman After Positive Pot Use Test

A Connecticut woman fired by Mobis Parts America LLC after testing positive for marijuana use has sued the autoparts maker, claiming she’d been subjected to disability discrimination.

The woman, Betsy Vega, said in her Sept. 16 complaint that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and relied upon the marijuana to help treat it. Fired after testing positive for pot use, she told the Hyundai Mobis Co. unit of her condition, was told to obtain a medical marijuana card and, in April 2022 rehired as a temporary employee at its South Windsor, Connecticut, facility.
