MLB Ordered to Pay $1.9 Million to Minor Leaguers in Wage Suit

Major League Baseball owes $1.9 million to minor league players for violating California’s wage statement requirements, the Northern District of California ruled in a consolidated wage and hour class action alleging violation of federal and state law.

It is undisputed that MLB hasn’t complied with California’s wage statement requirements, but disputed issues of fact prevent resolution of Arizona minimum wage and record-keeping claims on summary judgment, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Tuesday.

Ruling on multiple motions, the court greenlighted the bulk of the players’ claims under federal and state law.
