MLB.com Hit With Video-Privacy Suit Over Info Shared With Meta

MLB Advanced Media LP shared the video-viewing histories of subscribers to its mlb.com website with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Aaron Golland and three others alleged that MLB Advanced Media installed Meta’s tracking software on website, allowing the tech company to collect data arising from visitor interactions with the site without their knowledge or consent.

Information disclosed to Meta’s Facebook unit included the names and Facebook IDs of subscribers, along with “detailed information revealing the titles and subject matter of the videos and other audiovisual materials requested or ...
