Simpson Strong-Tie Co. Inc. was accused by a rival construction company on Wednesday of infringing patents for a component that connects trusses, joints, or beams to fire-separation walls.
Columbia Insurance Co. and MiTek Inc. brought their complaint against Simpson in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The plaintiff companies allege Simpson made, used, sold, or offered to sell fire wall hangers that infringe on patents licensed exclusively to MiTek by Columbia.
