MIT Accuses Microsoft of Patent Infringement for Cloud Services

Microsoft Corp. allegedly has infringed patents that make computer chips more secure for its cloud services, Massachusetts Institute of Technology says.

The complaint alleges Microsoft has infringed two patents—Nos. 7,818,569 and 7,681,103—related to physical unclonable function technology, which creates unique identifiers for computer chips that’s resistant to physical tampering. MIT filed its lawsuit Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
