Mississippi County Officials Can’t Shed a Fired Worker’s Lawsuit

Two Mississippi county officials lost their bid for immunity in their individual capacities from an ex-worker’s allegation he was terminated for supporting an opposing candidate for chancery court clerk.

The dispute in Hancock County, Miss., stems from County Supervisor Kodie Koennen’s alleged demand that Youth Court Judge Trent Favre remove plaintiff Bennett Rimmer as a court representative, and Rimmer’s subsequent firing.

Rimmer sued the county, Koennen and Favre claiming violation of his constitutional rights, tortious interference and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.
