‘Mission: Impossible’ Producer Faces $20 Million Fraud Verdict

An executive producer of several blockbuster Hollywood films must repay investors that a Florida jury said were duped into funding films they were told would be sure bets but wound up being busts.

Jason Cloth, who is working on the upcoming installments of “Mission: Impossible,” “RoboCop” and “Legally Blonde,” must repay investors $6.6 million in compensatory damages and $13 million in punitive damages for his fraudulent misrepresentations, a U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida jury ruled in its verdict Wednesday.
