Miramax, CAA Get Cold Reception in NY Weinstein Abuse Case

Miramax Film NY LLC, Creative Artist Agency LLC, and Walt Disney Co. won’t be protected by arguments that they didn’t control the behavior of Harvey Weinstein, a New York state judge said Thursday, as British actress Julia Ormond seeks to hold the companies responsible in a civil suit.

The three companies argue they shouldn’t be held accountable because they didn’t exercise control over Weinstein, they didn’t have enough information to know Ormond would be unsafe if she met with Weinstein alone, and they weren’t contractually obligated to protect her from the assault that occurred in 1995.
