Copyright owners for the title track to the 1996 film “Space Jam” sued a Minor League Baseball team from Wisconsin for using the song in a Facebook post.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a minor league team affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers, allegedly infringed Watson Music Group LLC’s copyright when it posted an excerpt of the song in a post promoting the Milwaukee Bucks, the city’s professional basketball team. Timber Rattlers Give Back Inc. is the sole defendant in Watson’s complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin on Monday.
