Minnesota Wins Injunction Against USDA’s SNAP Recertification

The US Department of Agriculture was temporarily blocked from attempting to force a rapid recertification of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries in four Minnesota counties.

The ruling comes as the Trump administration has sparred with Minnesota and its leadership over allegations of public assistance fraud. President Donald Trump has threatened to deploy US military forces to Minnesota in order to quell protests in response to violent and deadly encounters involving immigration enforcement authorities.

The USDA likely exceeded its authority and violated the Administrative Procedure Act when it demanded recertification of all SNAP households in Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, and Wright counties ...
