Microchip Engineer’s Trade Secrets Conviction Upheld on Appeal

The stolen trade secrets conviction of a design engineer at the microchip company Analog Devices Inc. was upheld by a federal appeals court Thursday, which rejected claims that the engineer faced racial discrimination in the prosecution because he is Chinese.

A three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit also rejected arguments by Haoyang Yu, a naturalized US citizen from China, that a jury had insufficient evidence to convict him on the single possession of trade secrets count in 2022.
