Democratic Michigan officials were blocked by a judge Friday from spending millions in budgeted dollars that were called back by a GOP-controlled legislative committee.
Court of Claims Chief Judge Michael F. Gadola said the state House of Representatives proved that the administration of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) likely violated a section of Michigan’s Management and Budget Act, which allows state officials to request that the legislature designate certain budgeted monies as being for a “work project” to get more time to spend the funds.
