A Michigan man can’t pursue a lawsuit alleging that a hospital improperly tried to collect money from his now-deceased daughter, her estate, and his family after accepting Medicaid payment for her care, a federal trial court said.
Farid Hermiz didn’t state claims against VHS of Michigan Inc. and its attorneys because personal injury protection insurance payments awarded to his daughter Myra Hermiz made her ineligible for Medicaid, meaning the original payments were mistaken, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said Thursday.
