Michigan City Sued Over Process Used to Issue Marijuana Licenses

Auburn Hills, Mich., acted unlawfully in its award of four licenses allowing businesses to sell recreational marijuana in the city, a federal lawsuit says.

Adult-use marijuana company JAR Capital LLC—doing business as Joyology—was denied a bid for a license to open a store in Auburn Hills and alleges the city’s licensure process didn’t follow state or local laws and violated its equal protection rights, according to its complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
