Michaels Workers Reach Settlement, Drop Bag Check Wage Suit

Michaels Stores Inc. settled a lawsuit with warehouse workers who alleged the retailer required off-hours security screenings in violation of California wage and breaks law, according to a filing in a federal court in the state.

Teddy Bear Andrews and Joleen Cook agreed to dismiss their individual claims against the store with prejudice, the notice says. The proposed class claims will be dismissed without prejudice, according to the Wednesday filing in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
