Mexican State’s Bribery Suit Against Texas Resident Can Proceed

The state of Chihuahua, Mexico can continue its lawsuit against a Texas resident and newspaper founder who is accused of taking bribes from former Chihuahua Gov. César Horacio Duarte Jáquez in exchange for positive news stories.

Osvaldo Rodriguez Borunda is a resident of El Paso, Texas, and therefore subject to jurisdiction, the Texas Court of Appeals, Eighth District, said Dec. 9. Chihuahua, which borders Texas and New Mexico, provided undisputed evidence that Rodriguez is domiciled in the lone star state, the court said.
